Charter Volunteer 

Ideally equipped for cross-channel cruising

Charter Volunteer and you're off to a great start on your cross-channel adventure - or stay closer to home if you'd prefer.  Based at Port Hamble Marina, Volunteer is fully equipped to provide a safe and comfortable (whilst still exciting!) yacht for you and your crew of up to 8. 

You can take Volunteer away as a Club member for as little as £28.75 per day per person.

Location of SY Volunteer

Volunteer is berthed at the Port Hamble Marina near Southampton. She is central to other Solent Ports making for easy choices for a cruising weekend, west or eastwards. Also to start lines of Cowes for the RTIR and other events if racing.

Competitively equipped for Solent racing

  • Designed for cruising, but adaptable for racing, the First 40.7 interior layout on Volunteer is uncompromisingly modern and comfortable.
  • Preferential bookings available for weekends or weeks by RNVR Yacht Club members, to attend RNVR Yacht Club events with other club members or (on dates noted in the Activities Programme) for sailing with RNSA members or family & friends. 
  • Available also to charter at preferential rates to members of other service yacht clubs and associations including ASA, RAFSA and CSSA
  • She participated in the 2015 Fastnet series with a crew of serving reservists Club Members. She entered into the 2019 Fastnet with a crew of Club Members.


Owned and Operated by Volunteer Yachting Limited and made available to members of the RNVR Yacht Club as well as others.

Acquired by Volunteer Yachting Limited, a company limited by guarantee established specifically for the purpose of owning and chartering to members of the RNVR Yacht Club and others, "Volunteer" is a Beneteau First 40.7 and is fully MCA Coded to Cat A2.

Based at Port Hamble near Southampton, "Volunteer" is available to charter by any suitably qualified person although there are preferential rates for both RNVRYC and RNSA/ASA/RAFSA/CSSA members as well as for members of associated Yacht Clubs who may wish to charter her.
