The first RNVRYC UK sailing event of the year starts with yachts gathering at Yarmouth IoW on 30th April. A limited number of berths have been reserved for attending yachts but skippers are advised to register their interest as soon as possible.
Dinner on 30th will be at one of our favourite venues, the Royal Solent Yacht Club and will commence at 1930.(Note The Royal Solent kitchen not operating on 1st May.) The Club bar will be open for drinks (not included in the event costs) prior to the meal.
The menu for the Royal Solent Dinner on 30th will be:-
Roasted vegetable and brie tartlet with salad garnish
Locally smoked trout salad with apple and beetroot
Lemon Parmesan and pine nut crumbled port escalope with ratatouille.
Oven baked sea bream filets with cherry tomatoes and braised fennel.
Individual pecan pies with vanilla ice cream.
Rich chocolate brownies and chocolate sauce with salted caramel ice cream.
Half a bottle of wine per person will be served with the dinner.
Coffee will be served after the desert
Rig of the Day for this event will be Club Rig.
On 1st May there are three options for the morning:-
Island Breezer bus on a circular route via Freshwater Bay, The Needles and Alum Bay. It operates on a hop on hop off basis with a journey time of about 1 hour. Ticket prices £10 per person or £5 if using a senior bus pass although there is a group ticket if 5 travel together priced at £5 each. Suggested bus times from Yarmouth bus station 0950 and 1020.
Yarmouth Castle tour. The castle is adjacent to the ferry terminal and a visit will take approximately 40 minutes. Admission costs £4.90 each (£4.40 if over 60) and the castle opens at 1000
Fort Victoria Gun Battery (part of Fort Victoria Country Park) is a short walk from Yarmouth over the bridge.
1st May pm yachts should re-locate to Lymington Yacht Haven. A limited number of berths have been reserved and skippers are advised to register their interest as soon as possible or arrange their own booking. We will hold a Pontoon Party commencing 1830. Each yacht to bring a bottle of wine or bubbly and nibbles. By kind permission of LYH, berths will remain valid to 1500 on 2nd May.
2nd May lunch at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club commencing at 1300. The Club bar will be open for drinks (not included in the event costs) prior to the meal.
The menu for the Royal Lymington Lunch on 2nd will be:-
Pear & Stilton Salad (v) on a bed of rocket & pine-nuts with a honey & mustard dressing
Parma Ham & Melon
Duck & Orange Pate served with chutney & melba toast
Fricassee of Chicken Breast with mushroom & tarragon, a hint of truffle oil, served with a timbale of rice
Tenderloin of Pork with a mushroom stuffing, served with cider sauce and colcannon & garnished with an apple slice
Salmon Steak with a herb & lemon crust, served with hollandaise, baby new potatoes and green beans
Chocolate Brownie with berries, orange sauce and cream
Warm Bakewell Tart with raspberry coulis & New Forest vanilla ice-cream
Warm Seasonal Fruit Compote with New Forest vanilla ice-cream
Half a bottle of wine per person will be served with the lunch.
Coffee will be served after the desert.
Rig of the day is smart casual.
Although some berths have been reserved skippers are to pay their own mooring fees at both marinas.
The price per person will be £72.50 to cover both dinner and lunch as well as tips.
