the club

With nearly 200 yachts owned by our members, the RNVR Yacht Club offers unparalleled exciting cruising in company for its members, who are predominantly from a Services background.  We are an active, friendly club offering training and cruising to those without yachts and many opportunities to socialise at dinners organised in locations around the country.

The Club welcomes past and present members of the RN, RNR, RNVR, RM, RMR and RFA to apply for Club membership.  Members or former members of the British Army or RAF are also welcome, with a more limited opportunity for applicants without a Services connection to join.  Members have had the privilege of wearing the undefaced Blue Ensign on authorised yachts since 1965.  Read about our History

Activities and Events

The Club organises a range of social functions, which include North West and South West Regional dinners.  The Club's Annual Dinner is held at prestigious locations in the South East and our Christmas Party is hosted by The Naval Club in London.

Volunteer - First 40.7 Racing Cruiser

Club members have access to a First 40.7 racing cruiser, VOLUNTEER, at special charter rates for enjoyment and training purposes.  View more details.

Training

Training is strongly supported and Club members enjoy organised Club training weekends in the UK and Mediterranean.  Some financial support and the benefit of group discounting is available for training at RYA accredited sailing schools.  Members can also gain experience under skilled Skippers on an informal basis.

Racing

Members can race Volunteer by chartering her with friends or other members.  She is also a regular on the Fastnet and any member can join the team to qualify to take part in this race.
